We believe that mediation fees should be transparent, and proportionate to the value in dispute. We don't charge a "booking fee". Nor for preparatory reading. Nor for "extra hours" after some arbitrary point on the mediation day. Nor for travelling time. The fee below is what you pay us.
Whilst Covid rates remain high, we strongly recommend online video conference mediation on pure mediation grounds. And since online mediations save us some travel and accommodation costs, it's only fair that we pass that saving on to you, so the fees in the left hand column, for online mediations, are a little less.
Where the parties never the less prefer face-to-face mediation, we will mediate face-to-face in accordance with our Coronavirus Protocol.

The "value in dispute" will usually be the total of the claim (or the disputed part of the claim) and any counterclaim. So, if Jack claims £10,000 from Jill, and Jill has a counterclaim for £10,000 against Jack, then the value in dispute is probably £20,000. That would be the difference between Jack's position and Jill's position. For the lawyers out there, if any counterlcaim is purely deployed as a set - off, then we wouldn't count the value of the counterclaim.
We do not charge anything on top of the prices above for travel costs for mediations throughout most of England. Click here to see which areas we cover without charging travel costs. We are pleased to conduct mediations elsewhere in the UK, but regret that we would need to charge for travel costs and overnight accommodation (where necessary). We hope that we will still represent the best value mediation service available - and if you live in one of those beautiful parts of the country you could always consider an online mediation, which is cheaper anyway!
Our fees are intended to provide a fair reflection of the value of the dispute. If there are exceptional circumstances that mean that in a particular case these fees just do not work fairly, let us know, and we’ll see what we can do.
You will of course also need to budget for your own travel and accommodation costs, the fees of your own advisors, and if rooms are being hired for the mediation, for your share of the cost of those rooms. Unless of course you're mediating online, in which case you'll be saving those expenses too.
