Business analyst Daniel Dana has said that "unresolved conflict remains the largest reducible cost in any organisation".
Conflict leads directly to cost. It manifests in many forms, including strained relationships, dysfunctional teams, excessive employee turnover, defections to competitors, unnecessarily high sick leave, and in the form of formal grievances and claims in the Courts and Employment Tribunals, with all the attendant legal costs, stress, and publicity.
Mediation is a modern, practical, cost effective way to deal with conflict. It is confidential, cost effective, and quick. About 80% of all workplace mediations settle and many consider it a better way of resolving workplace grievances, as well as a better way of managing change in the workplace - for employer and employee.
If a workplace dispute cannot be resolved internally, and an unfair dismissal, discrimination or other claim is unavoidable, mediation is likely to be quicker, cheaper, and more cost effective than dragging the dispute through the Courts or Employment Tribunals.
Our employment and workplace mediator, Paul Evans, is an employment lawyer and part time Employment Judge. He combines his own experience as an employer, experience of mediations, and a deep knowledge of employment law with practical experience in the Employment Tribunal dealing with unfair dismissal, discrimination and similar claims for both employers and employees.
Paul will come to your workplace or will attend at a neutral venue if preferred.
For senior executives and HR personnel interested in training as a mediator for their own workplace, or simply in acquiring mediation skills to help save conflict related costs in their workplace, we also run a one day course on mediation skills in the workplace.
